CavalierVisitors are coming, visitors are coming, visitors are coming...
Lakeland High School will participate in an Advanced Performance Accreditation Review on February 19, 2019. "The review process examines the whole institution - the programs, the culture context, the community of stakeholders - to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of students."
In preparation for the performance accreditation review, faculty & students will be asked to complete surveys via email in the coming weeks. The completed surveys will provide data needed for the review team visiting "The Home of the Cavaliers" in February. Additional information will be shared as preparations are underway.

SENIORS - Reminder for those of you who have already applied to colleges or universities. Please make sure you are checking in with them to verify that everything has been received such as transcripts and test scores. Also, make sure Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster is receiving a copy of your acceptance letters as you receive them.

SENIORS - The deadline for the February ACT is Fri., Jan. 11. If you have not registered yet for this test, please see Mrs. Foster by Thurs., Jan. 10 or before noon on Fri., Jan. 11. This will be the last chance to take or retake the ACT test to be considered for college admissions for Fall 2019.

Students - do you have a teacher that you would like to commend for outstanding performance? Positive teacher referrals will soon be available to fill out for your favorite teachers. They will be available for pick up in Guidance and the Main Office.

Sophomores - Registration for the HOBY Leadership Seminar is still taking place. If you have leadership skills and would like to take part in this transformational leadership experience, then HOBY is the place for you! Please see Ms. Bowers in the school counseling department before Fri., Jan. 11, 2019 for more information.

The Scholastic Bowl team will practice on Tues., Jan. 15, 2019 at 3:15 in Room 126. Please provide transportation home following practice.

The character development traits recognized in January are "caring and generous". Generous people are the ones who give more than is expected of them. A caring person displays kindness and concern for others.

SENIORS: Please pay your dues to Ms. Manning in the Chorus Room. Dues are $60. On Feb. 1, dues will increase to to $70.

Boys' tennis conditioning will be held on Fri., Jan. 11 after school at the tennis courts until 5:00pm. Make sure you have a ride home. Questions, talk to Coach Jay.

The ASVAB will be administered on Tues., Feb. 12. Only students in grades 10-12 should sign up. Students must sign up in the Library school, during lunches, and after chool. Students must sign up by Fri., Feb. 8.

JUNIORS, - if you have not registered for an SAT in the Spring (test dates are March 9, May 4 or June 1) or and ACT (Feb. 9, April 13 or June 8), please register soon. Seats will fill up fast as it gets closer to test dates. Please return your fee waiver application & release forms to Mrs. Foster, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Foster ASAP!

We are excited to announce that Lakeland High School will be participating in the Suffolk "Relay for Life" through the American Cancer Society. Our team name is "Cavs for a Cure". We are looking for active members who will participate with fun activities to raise awareness and funds for our team this year. If you are interested in being a team member, please sign up on the list located in the Media Center. We are happy to have you join our team. Team members can be students, staff and family members.

Off season football workouts will be held starting Mon., Jan. 14, 4-6p. Attendance is mandatory.

What do rubber duckies, pirates and donuts have in common? Come by the Library this month to find out - grab a book and earn a chance to win a gift card.

There will be an FCCLA meeting on on Mon., Jan. 14, 3:15 in room 117.

The ASL club will meet on Mon. & Tues., Jan. 14 & 15 at 3:10 in room 103.
